Shop / Work Training
A work training project for individuals recovering from mental health problems.
ABOUT US
The Guideposts Shop in Watford town centre is a high quality gift shop specialising in unusual ideas for presents, cards and homeware.
We are funded as a training project to help people who are recovering from mental illness to gain confidence and experience, working towards a retail qualification, to enable them to return to work.
ABOUT TRAINEES
Most of our trainees have had long-term mental health problems and we offer support to those wishing to seek or return to work.
They meet new people, improve self-esteem, learn new skills and work as a team member to help in the successful running of the shop.
SERVICES
Trainees will have regular reviews with staff to support their progress. Activities at the shop include promoting sales by offering help and information to customers about our products and Guideposts Trust, handling money and deliveries, pricing goods and arranging appealing displays. You will learn retail skills and work towards an NVQ qualification in Retail Distributive Trades which covers a wide range of skills and knowledge which could be applied in other areas of work.
We aim to help you prepare for work by strengthening your confidence, build on your skills and increase your social network in a friendly and supportive environment.
