Guideposts BME Group was established over 10 years ago as part of  Guideposts Mental Health Services in Watford

Minashki, our Community Development Worker, works with the Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) Communities to raise awareness about mental health problems, and promote greater understanding of the issues. Her aim is to tackle and reduce the stigma attached to mental health problems and promote emotional well being.

Minashki is passionate about working with BME communities, which Guideposts Trust Mental Health Services in Watford enables her to do with great success:

“We have been providing a magnificent service for a culturally sensitive service for Asian Women, (for 11 years), which the women see as a social group and not a“Mental Health” group. This has made a tremendous impact on their well being.  At Henry Smith House staff are well supported and cared for. When I first started I had lots of anxiety if I had to give a talk to a group people, but with support and encouragement now I can do that with more ease.  The Asian Women Service is flourishing and more referrals are pouring in. The success of our services is because the string of effective communication is holding us as a team.
