Shared Lives Scheme
Statement of Purpose
Aims and Objectives
The purpose of the scheme is to provide an alternative to residential care for people with learning difficulties. The service provides day care, short breaks and long term placements. The aim of any placement is to provide support within a family-based setting, for a person with a learning difficulty, for as long as required.
The objectives are to:
Provide a safe and comfortable environment
To take an interest in and offer support and care to the resident, while respecting his/her independence
To ensure that the resident is free from any form of abuse, neglect or exploitation
To work as part of a team, with family, friends and professionals involved with the resident, to promote their independence and quality of life
The scheme is run by Guideposts Trust, in partnership with Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils.
Equal Opportunites Statement
