Learning Disability Service
Services for People with Learning Disabilities
People are at the heart of what we do. In practice this means working closely with each person with a learning disability, developing services in response to their needs. We aim to help develop and to give them the opportunity to maximise their own talent and abilities.
Gloucester Community Services include:
* A Friendship Scheme that pairs trained volunteers with individuals giving them the opportunity to go out socially, swimming, ten-pin bowling, to the pub or shopping, and so give them a happier and more independent life.
* A training programme called INTERACT helping young people understand relationships, appropriate behaviour and sexual awareness.
* Community Activity Scheme providing social activities such as day trips to local amenities.
* Guideposts Unlimited gives people unlimited opportunity for adventurous, challenging and creative experiences.
* Housing Support Services for up to 25 individual tenants in and around Stroud, Gloucestershire.
