SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY – WARNING

We have been informed that a gentleman in his 60’s, has been using an orange Guideposts collecting box and knocking on doors in the Hendon area.  He has ID (false)  – there is no charity number or full information on it.  This gentleman is nothing to do with Guideposts and we are not holding a door-to-door collection at this time.  If you see this man or he approaches you to ask for money, we advise you to contact your nearest police station.  Please also contact the Watford office on 01923 223554.  Thank you.

About Guideposts Community Day Activities

Henry Smith House is the base for our programme of activities and courses for people with mental health problems.

We run a range of group activities and training courses, to help on your road to recovery. We provide support to enable you to manage your mental health problems. Also you can come along to the Centre and express your creative side with our art & pottery or jewellery-making sessions, learn some relaxation techniques, join us in the garden or get out and about with our walking group.  We also have something for those of you who love films or music or books.

We have a popular Men’s Group, an Over 30s or Under 30s group.

We run an established Asian Women’s and BME service to support people with mental health needs with an eye on cultural needs.

Our Community Engagement Worker (CEW) also works with a range of people from different cultures in our area.

We also have a Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender CEW who can offer support, raise awareness and offer training to individuals and carers/supporters.

We offer a number of trips and breaks throughout the year, providing an excellent way of helping you branch out and explore new surroundings and extend your comfort zone with help from our staff and volunteers. Lasting friendships are formed and self esteem is often raised through these activities.
