Learning Disabilities Services

Living with a learning difficulty is a challenging experience. It places limits on what an individual can do, but with the right support and encouragement people with learning difficulties can achieve a huge amount. People with a learning disability tend to take longer to learn and may need support to develop new skills, understand complex information and interact with other people. At Guideposts in Hertfordshire, we have run services from our offices in Ware since 1992. Our services are recognized as innovative and person-centred. We have years of experience in listening to and supporting adults with learning difficulties to access their own community activities and lead fuller more independent lives.

The level of support someone needs depends on individual factors, including the severity of their learning disability. For example, someone with a mild learning disability may only need support with things like getting a job. However, someone with a severe or profound learning disability may need full-time care and support with every aspect of their life – they may also have physical disabilities.
At Guideposts, we provide care, support and information so that people with learning difficulties and their carers have choices about what they do, how they live and work to ensure they can lead independent lives and be treated with dignity and respect.
