Supported Living

In 2002, working in conjunction with Stroud District Council, Social Services and Supporting People, eleven adults with a learning disability moved into three private houses that Guideposts had purchased in the Stroud district.

Everyone residing in their tenancies is now working to achieve the goals they set in their support plan. Some people are already taking charge of their lives by managing their own money, medication or a number of their domestic tasks unsupported. The tenants are feeling positive. We are looking forward to a long and successful future for each individual.

People with learning disabilities within their community, are benefiting from this support scheme. The help Guideposts gives may be social, domestic or to do with personal finances, parenting and personal development.

Guideposts provide a holistic approach, with the level of support determined by individual needs. Each person, with whom we work, identifies how many hours per week they need and prioritises the areas in which they need support. By working in partnership with other professionals, we are able to provide individuals with the opportunity to reach their full potential.
