Leaving Guideposts a gift in your will is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can support a cause you hold dear. It costs nothing during your lifetime but will have a powerful impact for years to come.

Your gift will enable us to continue developing local services that promote and provide for good mental health, give people with a learning disability greater choice and opportunities, and provide better care, support and advice to the hundreds of people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other dementias who so urgently need it.

If you already have a Will – it is very easy to add a charitable bequest. Very few words are needed to make what is known as codicil to your Will, altering the provisions slightly without changing your whole Will. Many people use this simple document to benefit their favourite charity.

If you don’t yet have a Will – it is worth giving this consideration. Your will is one of the most important documents you will ever draw up. It sets out how you want your property and other assets to be dealt with after your death. A valid Will brings peace of mind knowing that you have taken decisive action on something that is very important to you.

When writing your Will there are three main ways you can support us

• A percentage of your estate – after you have taken care of those you love then you can give a percentage of what is left to support your cause. For many charities this form of gift is the most valuable.
• A monetary gift, where you determine in advance an amount that you would like to contribute to guideposts specific causes or services
• A specific gift enables you to give an item of value, a piece of furniture, investments or land that will benefit guideposts specific causes or services
