Community Activity Scheme
The Community Activity Scheme is for adults with learning difficulties who live with members of their family in the community, or who live independently with the close support and care of family members.
The project is run by Guideposts Trust in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care Services, and operates in the areas covered by the East Hertfordshire and Broxbourne Community Learning Disability Team and the Welwyn and Hatfield Community Learning Disability Team.
The scheme enables adults with learning difficulties to develop social lives and leisure time by facilitating individuals and small groups to use leisure opportunities and facilities available in the community.
Aims of the scheme:
For the service user:
To have an independent social life, to improve community presence and participation through using leisure opportunities available in the community, building social networks and improving self-confidence.
For the family:
To provide quality respite time for carers, improving the well-being of carers by using a non-traditional person-centred approach to respite
The Community Activity Scheme is complimentary to our Leisure Projects and Friendship Scheme.
