Guideposts is a social care charity which has been supporting adults with learning difficulties in Hertfordshire for 17 years – we are very experienced at supporting individuals and small groups to access local community facilities and amenities.
We believe:- that all adults with learning difficulties have the same rights as anyone else, to make decisions about the life they want and receive the right kind of support to achieve what they want.
We listen:- to individuals and their families and carers, building strong relationships and helping people get what they want, developing individual plans and ensuring that the right support is provided.
We promote:- the use of ordinary community facilities and amenities to ensure community presence and participating, with real choices from a wide range of activities.
We treat:- each person as an individual with respect and dignity.
We communicate:- by getting to really know individuals and the people in their lives, and we have many years of experience of developing communication systems with individuals including sign language, Talking Mats and assistive technology e.g. GoTalk20 to choose activities.
